Reading Dick’s Books: Book Three

Book Three: The Mouse Butcher (1981).

We, Dick’s family (or in this case Dick’s long-term friend, neighbour and accountant Michael), have decided to start rereading (or in some cases reading) some of Dick’s books…

I once lived in the same village as Dick and so followed his books closely, and have now, all these years later, just reread “The Mouse Butcher”. Probably we are more familiar with Dick’s animal stories about Pigs , Mice , etc, but this one is about CATS.

And don’t be put off by the word ‘Butcher’. It’s really a love story with the main protagonists a working class butcher boy ( a moggy) and an upper class girl from the big house (a Persian). With lots of daring do adventures before the final happy ending. You’ll love it. I certainly did.
