Reading Dick’s Books: Book Two

Published on Thursday, July 11th, 2019

Book Two: Harriet’s Hare (1994).

We, Dick’s family, have decided to start rereading (or in some cases reading) some of Dick’s books…

It’s quite some time since I read this book of Dad’s: always one of my husband’s favourites, but I had quite forgotten what a delightful little gem it is!

Harriet, the only child of a widowed father, finds a surprising friend in Wiz, who makes a timely arrival in her world one summer from the planet Pars. He has come to Earth for his holidays and changes Harriet’s family life for ever.

What more could you want in a children’s feel-good book than an alien, magic and romance: quite literally ‘enchanting’: complete in its own right and of its time. And, yes, I’m biased!
